Surrender a Pet
We always encourage families to work hard to resolve any pet-related issues in order to keep their pet for the duration of its lifetime. Sometimes, however, re-homing an unwanted pet is the most humane thing to do. We appreciate your effort to try to find safe placement for your pet instead of dumping it outside or giving it away for free to a stranger.
Note: Submission of the Pet Surrender Form does not guarantee that we will be able to take your pet(s). HSAC operates as an "adoption guarantee" shelter. This means that we will not euthanize a current shelter pet to make room for new pets. When the shelter is full, we cannot accept new pets. All pets must be temperament tested by our staff before they are accepted into the shelter. A surrender fee is required.
Surrender Fees:
Dog $30.00
Cat $25.00
Surrender fees are used to help cover the cost of vetting surrendered pets. These costs include spay/neuter surgery, deworming, distemper vaccines, rabies vaccines, Bordatella vaccines for dogs/puppies, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV testing for cats, medical treatment for injuries/diseases, food, flea/tick medicines, and staff salaries to care for the animal.
